Summary

Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos may have once been the baddest of the bad, but their wicked ways are (mostly) behind them-and now graduation is almost here! But before the seniors can don their custom-designed caps and gowns, courtesy of Evie, they've got an epic plan to put into action。 There are tons of villain kids on the Isle of the Lost who are eager for their chance to come to Auradon Prep-even Celia, Dr。 Facilier's trickster daughter, wants in on the deal!-and Mal's crew is using their upcoming visit to the Isle to help make it happen。 But Auradon's biggest threat is still at large?

Trapped on the other side of the barrier, Uma is more desperate than ever to get her long-awaited revenge against Mal。 When she discovers an underground lair belonging to Hades, god of the underworld, Uma realizes she's found the perfect partner in crime。 Together, they can defeat Mal, bring down the barrier, and escape the Isle for good。

Mal and Uma have a score to settle, and they'll come face to face in an explosive underwater battle that could determine the fates of Auradon and the Isle of the Lost once and for all。

Love the Descendant movies。 This book was my favorite out of the whole series! <3

Another fun Descendants book :) I had issues with some plot points (especially around magic), but I enjoyed myself almost as much as I did with the third book。 Lots of nostalgia around the end of high school for good measure!

Actual score: 2。5Not a whole lot happened。 It was definitely a set up for the third movie。 It felt different than the previous books, if that makes sense。 Or perhaps it is because you know it's going to end。 I liked the insights on their struggles about what they want to do with their lives。Carlos and his love interest are absolutely precious。 I love how Evie and Jay developed。 They got their own thing and thrive in it。 Mal, is still just Mal。 Even though I like her, during this book it kind of Actual score: 2。5Not a whole lot happened。 It was definitely a set up for the third movie。 It felt different than the previous books, if that makes sense。 Or perhaps it is because you know it's going to end。 I liked the insights on their struggles about what they want to do with their lives。Carlos and his love interest are absolutely precious。 I love how Evie and Jay developed。 They got their own thing and thrive in it。 Mal, is still just Mal。 Even though I like her, during this book it kind of started bugging me that she is always the greatest and strongest。 I get it, main character and all, but it reminded me of good ol' Mary Sue。Overall I definitely had fun diving into the descendants universe。 。。。more

I actually really enjoyed this one。 Maybe it's the fact that it's the last one or maybe it was genuinely better? I will say as someone who loves retellings and as someone who loves the movies I am very happy I read the books。 I actually really enjoyed this one。 Maybe it's the fact that it's the last one or maybe it was genuinely better? Sadly, this was probably the most boring of the four books。 I cared more about the history of Hades/Mal relationship, but it didn't happen。 What happened to her "human" father? Did the author know what was going to happen in D3? If so, why wasn't this relationship explored more? Disappointed。 Also, with Audrey being a more prominent character in D3, I wished there was more of a storyline for her in this book。 At the end her family doted on her during graduation, but in the movie, Queen Leah was Sadly, this was probably the most boring of the four books。 I cared more about the history of Hades/Mal relationship, but it didn't happen。 What happened to her "human" father? It was a great bridge between what happened in the 2nd movie and what happened in the 3rd。

I know that I am not the age demographic for this book, but the first two books and movies played a part in my childhood so I had to read this book。 It was okay, the ending was a little rushed but I still kind of liked it。 Maybe if you’re a bit younger you’ll like it more。

3。5 starsA nice read that focussed more on the four original characters again。 It kind of felt like a filler between the last two movies though。 I get that this is meant for a younger audience, however, it kind of annoyed me that all of these rotten to the core characters have become so soft hearted。 They went from practically terrorizing the island to living in a cottage in the woods because now they're all just so /good/。 I think I would have enjoyed the quartet better if they had struggled wi 3。5 starsA nice read that focussed more on the four original characters again。 It kind of felt like a filler between the last two movies though。 I get that this is meant for a younger audience, however, it kind of annoyed me that all of these rotten to the core characters have become so soft hearted。 They went from practically terrorizing the island to living in a cottage in the woods because now they're all just so /good/。 I think I would have enjoyed the quartet better if they had struggled with their villain side more。 However, as expected from Disney, true love makes you turn into a perfect person。 I really liked the sass and the smirks and the sarcasm and I'm kind of missing that。 I would have like to see more of Hades as he is my personal favourite villain。 。。。more

In case your confused about the order of the books and movies like I was: BOOK 1MOVIE1BOOK 2BOOK 3MOVIE 2BOOK 4MOVIE 3。 This one is book 4 and its by far the worst, the first book being the best。 The last 50 pages are pretty much a " happy ending " wrap up, which makes no sense when there one more movie and it was unnecessary。 This book could have included more jokes, more parallel for our heroes and went through the happy ending wrap up a little faster instead of trying to kill me by dragging i In case your confused about the order of the books and movies like I was: BOOK 1MOVIE1BOOK 2BOOK 3MOVIE 2BOOK 4MOVIE 3。 This one is book 4 and its by far the worst, the first book being the best。 The last 50 pages are pretty much a " happy ending " wrap up, which makes no sense when there one more movie and it was unnecessary。 This book could have included more jokes, more parallel for our heroes and went through the happy ending wrap up a little faster instead of trying to kill me by dragging it out。 I wanted to see more from Celia, Dizzy, Hades, Uma and her Pirates! These are awesome characters we had all set up on the Isle with the school and the other villans and we got nothing from them。 And the parents of Evie, Carlos and Jay 。。。 where were they? This is the last book and we got nothing from them, just mentioning them and avoiding them。 The books cover art is so beautiful。 I wanted so much more from this book。 。。。more

I loved it。Also was Mal being the daughter of Hades mentioned before because finding out here somehow blew my mind。I need more Hades lol。And what happens to Uma! She deserves better to be honest。 But I'm really bothered that Mal didn't have any career prospect。 I mean she's not yet married to Ben and is certainly not a royal。 Why didn't she decide to explore her options first, have a feel of life, trying out different careers before shackling herself already to royal life? I don't get it。 It wouldn't have taken anything from the story and would have sent a beautiful message about finding oneself since she hasn't really had the opportunity。Update: I'm taking one star off。 The issue with Mal can't keep out of my head。 Also tbh, this was too rushed and had little depth for my liking。 The first three books were far better。 But I enjoyed it anyway。 。。。more

Rating: 4 stars。I'm honestly sad to be done with this quartet, I've had so much fun following Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos on their adventures。 This was a unique story idea and I couldn't imagine anyone else doing justice to the books that I've come to adore。 Melissa de la Cruz does an amazing job of growing these characters from villains trying to get the approval of their evil parents, to who they want to be。 This is a good story of growth and how to follow your true self and not to fall under t Rating: 4 stars。I'm honestly sad to be done with this quartet, I've had so much fun following Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos on their adventures。 This was a unique story idea and I couldn't imagine anyone else doing justice to the books that I've come to adore。 Melissa de la Cruz does an amazing job of growing these characters from villains trying to get the approval of their evil parents, to who they want to be。 This is a good story of growth and how to follow your true self and not to fall under the pressures others put on you。 I wish there were more books but I'm truly happy with how this ended。 。。。more

Definitely the weakest of the books。 It felt incredibly rushed and very forced like Disney decided it needed to fill the gaps between the second and third movies rather than to actually be a fully fleshed out story。 The characterizations of some characters was incredibly frustrating and Disney needs to really involve all associated writers/authors when creating such a thing; there were a lot of disconnects that made the book harder to read。

I have loved reading this series and watching the movies。 That being said, and understanding this is a YA or Middle Grade novel, I felt like this book was a little anti-climactic。 I still love the characters。 The book is very well written。 I will continue to read any more books that are published in this series。 I just really felt that there wasn't a well defined peak, or problem that the characters dealt with in this story。 I have loved reading this series and watching the movies。 That being said, and understanding this is a YA or Middle Grade novel, I felt like this book was a little anti-climactic。 I still love the characters。 The book is very well written。 I will continue to read any more books that are published in this series。 I just really felt that there wasn't a well defined peak, or problem that the characters dealt with in this story。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book takes place before the third movie and explains a decent amount of questions one might have between the second and third movies。 The entire series has been and is still an easy but impressive read。 I am only half way done but looking forward to finishing it and then rewatching the third movie。So the story order from books and movies is book, movie, book, book, movie, book。
